Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) will be attending the Democratic Party of Georgia's Jefferson-Jackson Dinner [1], the state party announced today.
Clinton, one of four Democrats seeking their party's nomination for President, is the first candidate to confirm for the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner. All of the Democratic candidates for President have been invited.
"We're obviously very excited to have Senator Clinton in attendance, and on behalf of all Georgia Democrats, I want to thank her for recognizing Georgia's role in the nomination process," said Jane Kidd, Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia.
In addition to formal invitations sent to the candidates for President, the party encouraged a strong grassroots effort, asking Democrats all over Georgia to email and call the candidates to personally invite them to the dinner. To date, over 500 Democrats have contacted the campaigns through the party's website.
This year's Jefferson-Jackson Dinner will be held on January 30 at the Georgia World Congress Center. In addition to a rally with Democratic candidates for President, the Democratic Party of Georgia will present the first annual "Georgia Giants" awards to Senator Max Cleland and Representative John Lewis.
