Edwards to join Georgia Democrats at Jefferson-Jackson Dinner
Former Senator John Edwards (D-NC) will join thousands of Georgia Democrats at the state party's annual Jefferson-Jackson Dinner, on January 30th at the Georgia World Congress Center.
Edwards, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for President, confirmed his attendance at the event today. All of the Democratic Presidential candidates have been invited. One other candidate, Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) has also committed to attend the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner.
Democratic Party Chair Jane Kidd invited all of the Presidential candidates to the event at the CNN/YouTube debates last year, and in the last month, she has encouraged Democrats from across the state to invite the candidates by sending emails via the Democratic Party of Georgia's website. To date, over 500 emails to candidates have been sent.
"We're glad to see Senator Edwards back in Georgia again," Kidd said. "I know he has a lot of great supporters here, and I want to thank them for helping get him to come to Georgia for the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner."
Edwards was the featured speaker at the 2007 Jefferson-Jackson Dinner. The Jefferson-Jackson Dinner is the Democratic Party of Georgia's principal annual fundraiser. For more information on the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner, or to purchase tickets, visit GeorgiaDemocrat.org.
