Executive & Specialist Internships

Executive & Specialist Internships

The primary mission of the Democratic Party of Georgia (DPG) is to provide support to Democratic candidates at every level of government, from municipal and county offices to U.S. Senate and the Governors office.

The DPG now offers two types of competitive internships, Executive and Specialist Internships.

The Executive Internship is designed to train applicants to work in several departments within a political environment. It is a well-rounded experience intended to prepare applicants for leadership opportunities on 2008 campaigns.

The Specialist Internship targets skilled applicants who prefer to gain hands on experience in their select fields of study or major. It is a chance for applicants to grow professionally while supporting the causes and beliefs of the Democratic Party.

Both internship opportunities will increase applicant's political perspective, garner college credit (where applicable) and provide merit based promotions and incentives.

*Executive and Specialist Internships are non-paid for all applicants. However they can lead to paid and non-paid positions (conventions, meetings, special events) within the State Party.

Merit Based Promotions and Incentives

The Democratic Party of Georgia believes in recognizing and encouraging future leaders of the Democratic Party and like most elected officials, we plan on doing so by way of voter confidence.

The Vote of Confidence is designed to honor and promote top performers with a 50 % peer and a 50% staff vote. The Intern with the highest Vote of Confidence will assume the Lead Intern position.

*Lead Interns are not eligible for re-election.
